Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Question: What constitutes a personal injury case?

    Answer
: Personal injury cases occur when some type of personal injury results from the negligence of another person or company. These might include a car wreck, slip and fall, fire, defective product case, medical negligence, wrongful death, or other situations where someone's negligence resulted in physical injury to you or a loved one. If you have experienced any of these situations then you may be entitled to financial compensation for your medical and other expenses caused by the accident. Also you may be entitled to additional compensation to cover future expenses, and for the pain and suffering caused by the injury.

  2. Question: How will I pay a lawyer?

Answer: We recognize that the last thing you need after suffering an accident is to expend money. We handle all personal cases on a contingency fee basis. We do not recover a fee unless we are successful in recovering money for you. You will not be billed for our services until the end of the case. At that time we will be paid a percentage of the amount of money we recover for you less expenses. If you have any other questions please; Contact Us.

  3. Question: The Insurance company wants to settle, should I accept the offer?

    Answer
: Please remember the adjuster works for the insurance company. They want to settle your case for least amount of money possible. What may seem like a fair offer to you now could fall far short of any amount of money you justly deserve. It is a always a good idea to consult with a lawyer before accepting any offer made to you by an insurance company.

  4. Question: How quickly do I need to contact an attorney?

Answer: To be safe, you should talk to an attorney as soon as possible, especially if severe injuries have resulted. Very often valuable evidence disappears, witnesses move, memories fade and the practical ability to prove your case may diminish.

  5. Question: When selecting a law firm/attorney what should I look for ?

Answer: Before making the decision to hire an attorney you should find out about the lawyer’s education, training, and experience. The lawyer should be prepared to tell you about how their firm has represented clients with similar cases to yours. Certainly be comfortable to ask the lawyer to go over the fee arrangement in detail with you. Be sure you understand what the lawyer plans to do to represent you on your claim.

  6. Question: On my first visit what should I bring?

Answer: You should bring all information you have regarding the incident, all medical bills you currently have, a list of all doctors and hospitals, and your other healthcare providers with addresses, and the last three years of tax returns, if you have lost wages as a result of the incident. You may be asked to bring additional information at the time your appointment is scheduled.

  7. Question: If a settlement offer is made, how will I know if it is fair and whether or not I should accept it?

Answer: Deciding to accept or reject an offer of settlement is often a difficult decision. Based on experience and knowledge of similar cases, The Law Office of James McCrorie, will advise you of the pros and cons concerning your case. The decision to settle, is always your decision. We will honestly answer all your questions so that you can decide whether a settlement is fair.
